jtsec 2020. A year marked by the COVID

2020 will always be remembered for COVID19, a virus that has changed our daily lives and the way we have had to relate, missing the touch of human contact with co-workers, customers, family and friends.

At jtsec we wanted to turn these initials into words that would offer us motivation, personal and professional improvement in the face of a completely new and strange scenario that we have all had to face.

C (Courage): Facing of adversity, this 2020 we have been charged with courage, courage to continue meeting our goals and those of our customers, mental strength to work from home, without the human warmth of colleagues and customers.

O (Optimism): Many have been the obstacles that have had to be overcome. Therefore, we want to show our total gratitude to family members, customers and suppliers who have helped us overcome them with optimism.

V (Versatility): In the presence of an unusual and unexpected situation, adapting as soon as possible is the only way to continue. We have had to adapt our communication to the new reality, ensuring that our clients and suppliers feel safe and accompanied in times of uncertainty. Therefore, we have further boosted our social networks and online visibility with the incorporation of a new member specialized in communication.

I (Investigation): In a field with such changing and continuously evolving scenarios as cybersecurity, continuing research and training is essential to provide excellence in projects.

D (Devotion): The passion for what we do, for our work, for our clients, allows us to have the necessary illusion to get up every day and work with impetus, with a team committed from the first moment.

As each year, we would like to share with you the most important milestones of jtsec:

At jtsec, we continue collaborating with the initiative to save the Iberian Lynx, o for every LINCE certification a client obtains, we give them a donation in their name; in this way, we not only fight to improve cyber security, but also to prevent the extinction of this precious cat. If this 2021 you have decided to contribute to a cause, it is time for you to adopt an Iberian Lynx

We miss the face to face events, this year we have adapted to the online format having contributed to several events of international awareness, such as: ICCC, CCUF Workshop, Encuentros UNE, XIV Jornadas STIC CCN-CERT, ICMC2020 or II Encuentro del ENS.

We grow collaborating in different institutions and international working groups, this year we contributed to the development of the EUCC (Common Criteria based European candidate cybersecurity certification scheme) as members of the Ad-hoc working group SOG-IS ENISA and the SCCG (Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group) advising the European Commission to develop the European Cybersecurity Certification Framework.

Supporting standardization has remained an important part of our day-to-day work. We have led the creation of the recommendations for the implementation of a certification scheme for industrial components (IACS). We have been one of the editors of the creation of the first version of the FITCEM (Fixed Time Cybersecurity Evaluation Methodology for ICT products) that will be a key piece in the development of the European certification schemes. We have led the development of the LINCE evaluation methodology as a UNE standard that will allow its use in other sectors. In addition, we continue co-leading the development of an Extension of ISO/IEC 15408 and ISO/IEC 18045 for patch management.

We have increased our commitment to improving cybersecurity, furthermore, to the diverse associations of which we were already a part, we have joined CONCORDIA, ioXT and CCI, focusing on greater support and dissemination of cyber security among companies to highlight the importance of working with cybersecurity products and methodologies.

Now comes days of rest, of enjoying with family and friends and of charging the batteries. The jtsec team will take off from December 25th to January 3rd to return full of energy for the challenges and projects that await us in the coming year.

The whole jtsec team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a very happy 2021 full of health.
